2026 Gun Control Act Amendment – An Overview of the Latest Changes

On April 28, 2026, the next phase of the Austrian firearms law amendment will take effect. The changes affect, among other things, suitability and reliability checks, age limits, and the purchase of firearms and ammunition.

Police enforcement powers will also be expanded in certain areas. This will result in new conditions for sport shooters, hunters, and gun owners in their daily lives.
