Young Hunters Course 2026 January (38 days)

Training:
Course duration: approx. 6 weeks
Exam date: in consultation with the WLJV, coordinated by us
Learning materials: WLJV scripts (PDF or hard copy)

Course content:
Wildlife knowledge, customs, hunting operations, hunting law, weaponry, weapon handling, dog training
Shooting training (including loaner weapons and ammunition) LW/FFW (2 days)
Exam preparation
On-site handling and identification training
Hunting ground inspection (1 day), gutting and butchering

The Events:
Every WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY from 5 to 9 p.m., shooting training on 2 Saturdays
Participation via ZOOM is possible, but in-person attendance is recommended!

Fri, Jan. 16 – Weapons training and handling
Sat, Jan. 17 – Shooting training/handling LW+FFW
Wed, Jan 21 + Fri, Jan 23 – Hoofed game
Wed, Jan 28 + Fri, Jan 30 – Game birds
Wed, Feb 11 – Dogs and hunting law
Fri, Feb 13 – Furred game, hares, and rodents
Sat, Feb 14 – Shooting training/handling LW
Fri, Feb 20 – Hunting operations and customs
Exam preparation and review: depending on the exam date
Exam date: to be announced, in coordination with the WLJV

Our training manager Martin Praschl-Bichler has been a passionate hunter, hunting ground leaseholder, and member of the Lower Austrian Hunting Association's hunting examination commission for 40 years. He combines his extensive practical experience in the hunting grounds—including as a hunting dog handler—with his trained profession as a gunsmith and arms dealer, as well as his long-standing passion as an international competitive shooter and certified shooting instructor. His broad expertise in hunting and his professional competence in the field of shooting and weapons technology are complemented by his passion for preparing the game he has hunted for enjoyable consumption as a hobby chef.

Documents and costs:
Learning materials: Course materials are included in the course.
On shooting days, ammunition, rental weapons, and range fees are included.
All participants will be registered as members of the SPL for the 2026 calendar year if required. Rental weapons and handling weapons are available free of charge for the duration of the course. Course fee: €1,490
